Are you using the same network configuration as in windows, or do you have it setup differently? And what exactly is happening when you try to open those webpages? I mean, what error codes come up in your browser?

i use firefox for both the o.s.,, but in case of linux when i try to open yahoo n some other sites there is no any special message but it shows tht the website is being loaded for unlimited time
I have experienced similar problems and I found that they were solved by setting my default dns to use Google's dns. IIRC they are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Might be worth a try.
Hmmm, I have had 2 scenarios in the past where webpages refused to load. Check your dns settings, and try to set up your primary DNS as 208.67.222.222 and secondary DNS as 208.67.220.220 and reload your network configuration. If it works, your problem was a bad DNS setup. If it fails, it sounds like a driver issue. Ensure you have the correct drivers downloaded for your wireless card.
