Slackware 13.37 no video when I start the XWindow

I recently loaded Slackware on my system, all appears to be working ok, however when I attempt to load the x window I loose video and have to shut down my machine. Is there somewhere I can view possible error logs?

thanks for any help.

Check your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file for logs information.

Did your screen hangs up and keyboard is also not working?

When I typed startX I see some text but am unable to read what it says, then my screen goes black. I am unable to see if my keyboard hangs or not. I have to manually power down my machine

In that case shutdown your machine and restart it again and then from terminal try to access /var/log/Xorg.0.log file and check for the errors and show us the error you're getting.

I have viewed the log and the only error I see is:

Failed to load module "fbdev" (Module does not exist,0)

Your help is appreciated, thank you.

What is your hardware configuration?

Because it seems to be an issue on old hardware...
