Question "SIM error" on configuring mobile USB modem

HI there...
I am a moderate linux user, currently running Mandriva 2009(spring).
I installed COMGT to use my LG mobile as a USB modem. While configuring it, using
# comgt -d /dev/tty0 #
I get error message -- SIM ERROR , Insert SIM or try another port--.
all device ports, other than tty0, fail to open.
HELP...
all I need is to use mobile USB modem for internet on linux....

P.S. the mobile works fine on windows XP.

I am not sure about this, have you tried ports like /dev/ttyUSBx or /dev/ttyACMx (x = number) ?

You can also use wvdial to connect to the net.
