His point was you have given us next to nothing to go on.
1. Is sendmail even running?
2. Do you have a firewall in place?
3. Does it send mail locally but not outside your network (or the box itself)?
4. Which version of Redhat are you using, if you are using the Distro in your profile?
5. What have you tried to do so far?
6. How are you testing the mail sending? From the commandline? From some mail client?
7. How about the logs? What do they say?
Let's get some of that answered and go from there...
Originally posted by spank I allready know that... I've read the man... the problem it that something is sliping. What could that be ?...
PS: it's not the hostname
Tanks!
Error messages or any returned mail and their errors would be helpful? We can't just assume what is wrong with it, were not psychic you know..
Originally posted by spank sendmail is up and running... he doesn't sendmail from shell, mail client, webmail and doesn't return error mails. I have RH9
There has to be something indicating if its not sending. What do your logs tell you? And what do you mean he doesn't sendmail from command, client or webmail? What or how are you sending mail then? Details please, you still have not provided any helpful information.
Jan 7 20:23:41 nbasarab sendmail[1863]: i081NfWM001863: Authentication-Warning: nbasarab.ro: apache set sender to spank@nbas$
According to some of the docs at sendmail: "Authentication Warnings add warnings about various conditions that may indicate attempts to spoof the mail system, such as using an non-standard queue directory."
Are you trying to send out as a different user or non-existent user, changed your domain in your email settings, etc?
pfiu... I solved the problem. I had installed an antivirus for sendmail and it played with my sendmail.cf... fortunately i had a backup for that file and i replaced the bad cf.
Thank you!
It most likely was your domain name settings in the cf file, which is the only thing I can think of. Most likely changed it from what your actual host name or domain name is on your machine, etc.
