How do I save the output from a command? I am getting an error message and I want to save it. How do I do that?

You can use >, e.g. to save the output from ls to a file called ls_list,

$ ls > ls_list

Thank you. I knew that it was something simple.

My next question is how do I look at the file in command line mode?

You can use cat, or if it's a long file and you want to scroll through, use less (in both cases, you just use the command followed by the filename).
