you can't run them without wine, or crossover office or another wine derivative. Unless you can get the right software from another system, you'll never get it to work. I'd really suggest looking for native alternatives though. Wine should only be a last resort really.

First thing Linux Mint 7 is Gloria not Isadora. Second thing Linux Mint 7 is way past End Of Life and it is no longer supported. Please not only should you follow the advice in the post above you should also get and install a version of your chosen Linux distro (Mint?) that is actually still current.

Mint 9 LTS is Isadora and it is supported until January 2013.

Isn't anyone else curious about why the Nokia suite is needed to connect to the internet?

mpallwa, I am going to assume that you use a nokia phone as a modem, but on Linux there are plenty alternatives to using the Nokia PC suite. The simplest way is if there is possibility for wireless tethering, but if that is not available, there are cable solutions as well.

A quick google search gave me some results, like this for example, and there was also a thread about this on the LQ forum here which lead to this possibility. A bit more research would probably give even more results, but you should do that on your own, since I don't know the specifics of your connection method.

Also the previous posters have a point, you should use a version of Mint that is still supported. Good luck!

First off, as the others here have pointed out, Mint 7 is woefully out of date and you should upgrade, or better yet, wipe it and do a clean install of the current version.

Second, I can almost guarantee that what you are trying to do, run a Windows-based connection tool, will not work, WINE or not. WINE is a set of quasi-emulated components and runtimes designed to fool programs into thinking they are running on Windows, with mixed success. You need to find something native to Linux if you want to have a reliable connection.
