redhat interactive startup


sorry if this has been asked but what files do i need to edit
in order to stop the interactive startup in Redhat 7.3?

what do you mean by interactive startup
do you mean about the oks that go past as the system boots
or the gdm/kdm/xdm that shows up when you enter linux
so that you can choose whether to go to kde/gnome and so on

for removing the oks edit the rc.sysinit file in your /etc (if you don't know what you are doing don't do it)
or to go to the shell prompt
runlevel 3
edit your /etc/inittab
there is a line
id:5:initdefault:
change it to
id:3:initdefault:
