Red Hat 9 Video Problems

Hello, I have installed Red Hat 9 successfully. But when I try to startx the monitor shuts off like I shut off the PC.

The installation found my monitor and video card fine, ( ATI 7200 and HP MX-90 monitor).

Could this be a refresh rate problem?? How can I adjust it from the command line??

Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

you got into command line??then check /var/log/XFree.0.log or similar files there for errors.you can reconfigure X by using xf86config or redhat-config-xfree.xf86config creates a new /etc/X11/XF86Config file wheras your X server may be using XF86Config-4 by default.check the log file abt this.if it is using the -4 file and you want to use xf86config,then delete the -4 one and proceed wuth the other one.

try 'more /var/log/XFree.0.log'.
or use the vi editor.i.e,'vi /var/log/XFree.0.log'.
any doubt?? try the manual pages, like 'man vi' or 'man more' etc......
