re-installing samba


i have re-installed my samba, now got these error when i did:

#smbclient //localhost/homes

tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME

Any idea how i can resolve this and get on would be appreciated.

looks like the network name doesn't exist. Try smbclient -L <name of computer>. It should come up whit a list of all the available shares on that computer.

Also check your smb.conf file, to see if all settings are correct.
make sure all is well here, like workgroup name and stuff like that.
you can use testparm to let the computer check for syntax errors in the smb.conf file
