Quick Question on Partitions

I run Slackware on one partition as my primary and my swap space. Someone told me though that it would make security sense in the future to create partitions for the /home, /usr, /opt directories. Is this a better idea? Thanks.

rawr101; definitely yes. security risk high
particular when online open to hacks, even with firewall. for better info on partitioning try this for guidance; http://tldp.org/HOWTO/HOWTO-INDEX
section 4.1.8 Patitions and Filesystems.
recommend utilizing this site as a guide for all future needs as a newbie, I do(newbie too).
