puppet repos vs redhat repos

Just trying to understand how to manage third party repos in redhat using satellite. I can create a third party repos on redhat satellite server/spacewalk but what happens if a package (lets says httpd) exists on both the repositories?

We have some strange issue in our company that a application team uses puppet for their deployments but we dont have any proper puppet setup at the infrastructure level. They included a script to disable redhat repos as some packages like http are getting updated to a newer version. Anyone who has similar setup can give me some suggestions?

if you did not install and configure "yum-priorites" then the Apache rpm with the highest number is installed

this is all explained in the redhat documentation and should be common knowledge in the back office .
