PS/2 mouse wont work in MEPIS!!!

hi,

i have a problem. My Optical G&E PS/2 mouse does not work at all on MEPIS! Everytime i boot up my computer, the red light on the bottom of the mouse turns on, but then when i move the mouse it turns off and doesnt want to move (of course) I've been looking all over the internet for help, but still none.

I really need help guys. Thanks.

"I've screwed around (me being a newbie and all)a bit. so.."

What exactly did you "screw around" with? What changes did you make?

Oh, and don't put "!!!" in your title as it makes you look stupid.
