Thanks ahead of time,It works with the 2.4.26 kernel but not with the 2.6.4Over at the Mepis forum no one can get it to work so I thought I would ask the experts.The only thing I tried was changing;
Option "Protocol" from "auto" to "IMPS/2"I have a Logitech PS/2 Standard Mouse R0.thanks david
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "PS/2 Mouse"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "auto"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "false"
Option "Emulate3Timeout" "70"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Buttons" "5"
EndSection
I use a ps/2 logitech optical wheel mouse and it worked right off the bat. What I suggest is setting your ps/2 mouse option to imps/2 instead of auto and see if that works and don't have emulate 3 buttons. In Mepis, you have to have your ps/2 mouse as a usb mouse if you have a wheel. That's the only way it works for me. I had the same thing happen with other distros of linux too.
I forgot that you said you were trying this with the 2.6 kernel. That is beta Mepis and may be a bug that will be fixed before the final release. I had problems getting the beta Mepis to recognize my old cordless keyboard and mouse and my ethernet and sound card. I bought a new ps/2 optical wheel mouse and ps/2 keyboard but I'm not going to buy a new ethernet card and sound card just to get the beta to run right for me. If they never fix those problems in the final release, I'll stick to the tried and true 2.4 kernel series.
This release just loves my hardware,I have succeded in getting everything to work except that so I'm really happy,I'm going to keep this for awhile and try not to break it.I have only added what I need and not done a upgrade as when I do that things break.Warren(the guy who developed this uses a Logitech PS/2 optical so no wonder it will work,I'm going to get one, wanted one anyway, cheap at wal-mart,thanks david
I don't think that the kernel is your problem. Try changing the syntax of your "Protocol". I had the same problem with one distro or another. Is this version running XFree4.4 perhaps? Anyways, try instead of
Code:
IMPS/2
go with
Code:
imps/2
Case is everything. That worked for whatever I had to use it for (may even have beem Mepis...). Good luck
