Question Problem with Java after updating

Ive been using linux for around 3 years. During the last year Ive used linux around 95% of the time. I chose the newbie section because I'm pretty sure this is a newbie type question but for the world I can't figure this out.

I've been using 'DBG' [a dosbox frontend] to play my favorite old games on linux Mint 'Julia' with no problems. I then updated Java via the Update Manager and now DBG will not work. I tried all kinds of fixes to set the JAVA_HOME environment variable in Ubuntu. No JOY!
From what I read this was most likely the problem. Now I'm not that sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Update
Solved the problem. Redid the previous fixes and it worked. I must have made an error on my first attempt. Many thanks for all the help

Well why don't you post the output from the terminal when you start ./dbgl.

Also what's the output of;
Code:
java -version
