problem in dual booting between winXP n Linux AS 3 Enterprise edition


Hello everyone...
i m new to this FORUM n new to linux as well ....when i installed Linux on my system as the only OS, it worked perfectly but when i tried to make my system dual boot between WinXP n Linux, on startup just Windows start n no option appers to choose between OSs....ie system is not detecting boot loader @ boot time... windows partition is in /dev/sda1 and it is 33 GB n i installed linux on the remaining free space....WinXP is workinf perfectly fine....i've done everything that made me sense n just couldn't understand wht is actuaaly the prob.....i m using Red hat linux AS3 enterprise edition.....can nebody help???

If you install windows after you have installed linux it writes over the mbr and does not recognise linux
To dual boot search this forum/google for "restore grub"

no...i installed linux over WinXP...btw in "advance boot loader option", two options r given

1. install GRUB in MBR
2. start intallation from sector 1

which one is best to choose?

Choice #1 is for Linux to control the MBR.

Choice #2 is for Linux to be booted by another system.
