Hi all,

I`m new to Linux and have a problem compiling ettercap0.6b on Mandrake 9.1.
I ran configure and had massive dependencie problems bit after I had installed all missing devel packages configure ran without errors. Now make crashes with following error message:

[root@mandrakebox ettercap-0.6.b]# make
...-lglib-2.0
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lgtk-x11-2.0
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [ettercap] Fehler 1

Is this a linking problem? I think I have the required libs..
[root@mandrakebox ettercap-0.6.b]# ldconfig -p | grep gtk-x11
libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0 (libc6) => /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0

there is no libgtk-x11-2.0 but I thought it was part of the gtk-2.0_0mdk rpm..

[root@mandrakebox ettercap-0.6.b]# rpm -qa | grep libgtk
libgtk+-x11-2.0_0-2.2.1-2mdk
libgtk+2.0_0-2.2.1-2mdk
libgtk+2.0_0-devel-2.2.4-2mdk
libgtk+1.2-1.2.10-32mdk

libgtkmm1.2-1.2.10-1mdk

Or am I simply miss a different devel package or must I advise a different dynamic link?

Move over to Debian., Mandrake = slow and anoying (windows like) for me, but u may like it.

On debian I did
apt-get install ethercap
and it grabbed the latest files off the net, installed them and configured them for me an 43 seconds.

If you still wanna try www.google.com/linux is you friend. place parts of that error in there, you should find something, also ethercap-gtk is seperate package, may need to get that.
