I have attempted to dl and compile a few programs and such, but when I ./configure, it will go for a while, then stop with this message:

checking for X... configure: error: Can't find X includes. Please check your
installation and add the correct paths!
That particular error was from my attempt at compiling a KDE theme, but I've recieved many such errors from other types of compilation attempts.
I'm rather new to Linux (if it wasn't obvious), but I've found my way around it quite well so far. Help!
