in a terminal type
Code:
cd /home/guest/Desktop
sudo dpkg -i mfc490cwcupswrapper-1.1.2-2.i386.deb
sudo dpkg -i mfc490cwlpr-1.1.2-2.i386.deb

ok did that this is what I got.

guest@guest-desktop:~$ cd /home/guest
guest@guest-desktop:~$ cd /home/guest/Desktop
guest@guest-desktop:~/Desktop$ sudo dpkg -i mfc490cwupswrapper-1.1.2-2.i386.deb
[sudo] password for guest:
dpkg: error processing mfc490cwupswrapper-1.1.2-2.i386.deb (--install):
cannot access archive: No such file or directory
Errors were encountered while processing:
mfc490cwupswrapper-1.1.2-2.i386.deb
guest@guest-desktop:~/Desktop$ sudo dpkg -i mfc490cwlpr-1.1.2-2.i386.deb

sudo dpkg -i mfc490cwupswrapper-1.1.2-2.i386.deb
verify if the name is correct, if not give the correct name of the deb file.
what is the output of

I'm confused.
Let's start over

The files you downloaded are at the desktop.
so in the terminal type
Code:
cd Desktop
No lets see if the files are there.
Type
Code:
ls
you should see 2 files with the extention .deb,
type
Code:
sudo dpkg -i firstfile.deb
make sure this filename contains cwcupswrapper

Then type
Code:
sudo dpkg -i secondfile.deb
make sure this filename contains cwlpr
