partitioning

well, someone told me not to do the auto-partitioning, so i did the disk druid or whatever its called

i have 2 3gig hd's, hda and hdc.

i setup the whole of hda with one 3gig partition mounted as '/'

and setup hdc as 512mb swap, and the rest '/home'

my machine still runs slow as hell, what have i done wrong?

i takes about 20 seconds just to open up mozilla, and im using a P3 with 256mb ram.

any comments?

well first off, mozilla can be a bit of a hog...

second what windowmanager/desktop are you using ? if KDE or Gnome, those can be hogs too.

and third, how many services or processes are you running ? try to eliminate some if possible, like for example: httpd for webserving, if your not going to be serving a website, eliminate that process.. and so on for any others you won't be using.
