openssl-devel

hi,

im trying to install MySqlDb for python on Redhat EL5. i downloaded the tar file and setup.cfg says its requires openssl-devel. i have openssl 0.9.8e installed on my system and its working good. where can i find openssl-devel ? i wasnt able to find tar file for devel. does it come along with the source ? i found openssl0.9.8e.tar file. my openssl is working now so i am a little worried about running the setup again on openssl. if it messup the current installation its will be an issue.

is it ok to run setup on openssl tar ? how is development different from source ? does it have more header files ?

thanks in advance

RR

Where did openssl-0.9.8ecome from? If it's a package from
the RHEL CD or a repo just yum install openssl-devel (I guess).

Cheers,
Tink

thanks for you reply..

we were using python 2.4 and now we upgraded to python 2.5. I believe yum wont work with python 2.5 or thats what i have been told and Im using rpm to install packages now. I guess i used yum to install open-ssl earlier and now i cant use yum anymore. Is there anything equivalent to "yum install openssl-devel" using rpm ?

thanks,
