opening a .bin file

I just put on red hat linux 9.0 my old computer to run a half-life server. I downloaded the stuff, but the hlds (half life dedicated server) file has a .bin extension. I double click it and nothing happens. How do i open a .bin file?

yeah i tried to run it by double clicking it (im in some graphical interface), and it didnt open. The ds_1_3111_full.bin is located in file:/home/joe/ and when i double click it the address (locatation bar) changes to ds_1_3111_full.bin but it still shows the last directory (file:/home/joe/).
