Odd problem playing dvd videos

As far as I can tell playing dvd movies is one of the most common problems linux newbies have.

The problem I have is that it won't play one particular dvd. I have already installed libdvdcss and it seems to work with most of my movies. Only the firefly series seems to have any problems.

Has anyone else had this same problem?

Totem gives an error message: The source seems encrypted, and can't be read. Are you trying to play an encrypted DVD without libdvdcss?

When run from the terminal this is the output:

I don't use totem -- it always seems to cause me strange problems. Try installing vlc and see if it works any better with your problem DVDs.

One good thing about Linux is that you usually have many free options; why not take advantage of that?

I'll give that a try but it's not just totem that failed to play the dvd.
Other dvd's have worked including the other disks in the series.

Beats me -- all I know is that life and Linux both require a good measure of trial and error at times ...

Excellent perspective.

Cheers
