Odd problem playing dvd videos
As far as I can tell playing dvd movies is one of the most common problems linux newbies have.
The problem I have is that it won't play one particular dvd. I have already installed libdvdcss and it seems to work with most of my movies. Only the firefly series seems to have any problems. Has anyone else had this same problem? |
since u r using a redhat system, this may work out for u

er...sorry that's out of date. I'm using ubuntu. I set up this account 2 years ago :o

What error messages do you get?
|
Totem gives an error message: The source seems encrypted, and can't be read. Are you trying to play an encrypted DVD without libdvdcss?

I don't use totem -- it always seems to cause me strange problems. Try installing vlc and see if it works any better with your problem DVDs.
One good thing about Linux is that you usually have many free options; why not take advantage of that? :) |
I'll give that a try but it's not just totem that failed to play the dvd.
Other dvd's have worked including the other disks in the series. |
That damned program worked! If someone can tell me why both gxine and totem didn't couldn't do it I'll be very grateful

read the tutorial i send u the link b4 it explains all
