no wireless on aspire 4730z using ubuntu 8.10

I just installed Ubuntu 8.10 intrebid ibex on my acer aspire 4730z. I read online some where this distro on my laptop would make everything run after installing. But I don't have any wireless. I go to the network configuration and under wired it says auto eth0 but under the wireless tab there is nothing. Is there something I am missing? I am EXTREMLY new to linux. Thanks in advance

that runs the ath0 chip it chould be supported by ubuntu or try do not forget your device will not be eth0 it will be ath0 or wlan0
