new sound card not fully functional ?

I am using Arch Linux.
My system WAS an ABIT NF7 with onboard AC97 sound that functioned properly.
I replaced my motherboard with an ABIT KN8 ULTRA and I installed a basic soundblaster Audigy SE.
I have sound, however my applications have no control over the sound levels. ex..Audacious, Banshee. If I try to control the sound levels from within these apps, no change. However, if I use alsamixer I can change my levels, but only for Analog front level. Do I have 2 sound drivers competing?

Thanks

You can check to see if you have two sound modules loaded at the same time with:

lsmod

See:
man lsmod
