need to install Yum tar.gz from telnet shell

i am trying to install yum on fedora core 6, i downloaded the yum tar ball ver 3.4.1 from http://yum.baseurl.org/.

Do i tar xvf yum-3.4.1.tar.gz?, then cd yum? then do i just run ./configure? any make options? or just run "make" (no quotes obviously)

thanks

you are aware that fedora 6 is and has been long dead ? right?
The current is fedora 14 ( fedora 15 will be out is a week )
see the life cycle
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedor...ase_Life_Cycle

"yum" WAS installed by default but dose not work on DEAD versions
the repos ware moved to the historical archives and for 6 there have been NO updates in 5 years

why do you need to install a different version that what is in the historical archives ?

see fedoras End Of Life forum page

can not and you will not be able to .

find a new host
fedora 6 has NOT had any security fixes installed since Dec. 2007

it is wide open to EVERY known attack from the last 4+ years

DO NOT use a hosting company that dose NOT care about YOUR security and YOUR risk of data theft .
this company should be held criminally libel for this

if they want you to pay$$$ for software installed

then you probably will NOT be able to install the old development tools and everything needed to build a critical system program

but see the End Of Life fedora link i posted ??? maybe
