The important thing here is your graphics card / chip.
And the driver for it.
Please specify both.
Say you are using Nvidia : Then the ordinary Fedora 9 kernel
may use the nvidia driver.
When you boot into the NCTUns kernel, it's another driver,
and if your /etc/X11/xorg.conf says e.g. nvidia :
No nvidia is present, unless you build one for the NCTUns kernel.
Or edit the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file to use e.g. nv or vesa.
