Flickering screen

I am working with a widescreen for the first time. I had to play with some modelines to make VESA accept 1280x800, but it works. Now: I seem to see some flickering where the screen is dark - as an example, the grey sides of LR forums. Which frequencies do you use?
You can have a look at my xorg.conf for pointers.
