Muffled base with Alsa on Sound Blaster Live Value

I've recently somehow come across the problem of having weird muffled sounds whenever there's any base in any music or sounds in general I play.

I've had this with the built-in alsa drivers with the kernel, and also with the external drivers I would download from the alsa website.

I'm running Gentoo Stage 1, I was using the 2.6.5 gentoo dev kernel had the problem earlier, and tried switching to the 2.6.6 kernel. I stil have the same problem.

I have no idea how to remedy this problem. Any tips would be helpful. I didn't have this problem before, but then I decided to install the alsa drivers from the alsa website, my sound didn't work, so I uninstalled them, and went back to the alsa drivers from the kernel source, and I continued to have this problem.
