Angry Mozilla 1.3 Ugly fonts in Suse 8.1

Even though I have:

- Correctly installed the graphics card
- Correctly copied and installed the true type fonts from Windows 2K
- Installed the FreeType package

The font rendering of Mozilla 1.3 is really ugly and fuzzy under Suse 8.1 and perfectly clear on exactly the same computer with Windows 2K.

Any suggestions?

As a general comments, font-rendering seems to be really poor on Suse 8.1 in comparason to W2K.

What can I do? Should I change distribution or is this the reality of life under Linux?

You need a version of Mozilla compiled with FreeType. For some reason (I think because not everybody has FreeType) Moz don't do this by default.

If you've got GTK2 installed and that does AA, then you can get a pretty copy of Firebird (moz with only browser) available here:
