mouse problem

I have recently installed ximian desktop2 on red hat 9. After the installation i found that the mouse pointer gets disappeared from the screen. This problem gets corrected temporarily either if i move my mouse very rapidly or login back after logging out.
This does not happen in KDE ( by the way kde almost got screwed by ximian installation).
Any ideas and possible suggestions

thanks in advance

ashish
