mount ext3 partition


this is what is currently in my fstab

Code:
/dev/hda8       /media/hda8     ext3    rw, users	0 0

but does not give me write permission. have i got it wrong?
thnaks in advance. forums search pulled many results, mainly with fat32 nounting, sorry if this is repeat post)

Firstly, you need to make sure the user you want has write access to the mountpoint (/media/hd8). Also I don't know if it's part of the problem but ditch the space in the options, I don't have any spaces in my fstab and it all works so I'd take that as a sign.

no, it seems i do not have write access to the /media/hda8 mountpoint. i ditched thespace, but no luck. any other suggestions?

Uhhhh, then give yourself access..? If you have access to modify fstab then I presume you have access to change the permissions on /media/hda8.

Sorry I have Ubuntu 5.10 (and the nautilus script that allows me to edit the file as root. How and what do I put in this file to gain access to the hda8 partition? I am not familiar with the commands. help will be appreciated.
