right now, im currently in the console, i booted with the failsafe.

I need to set up some stuff i think, how do i add a user through the console?

I accidentally installed tghe server packaged during installation, is this a problem?

If i just have to end up reinstalling, can i just run the disk again, clear the partition, and reinstall like that? or will i come across problems with the mbr?

Where can i go to get some friggin info.

Thanks guys,

sean

Hello,
What login name are you trying...if you have never set another user for all purposes other than system administration the fonly present login name is root.
Once logged in you should be able to
# adduser

i was able to add a user by going to the failsafe and in drakconf.

Now im able to log in, but the OS seems to have some serious graphic problems.

Last time i saw something like this my graphics card over heated. Everything is really choppy and repaints very strangely. The windows are looking really weird.

What can i do?

EDIT: cpu went up to 52 C
sysetm went up to 45C

its getting hot when im using linux, whats going on

I moved the settings to generic, now the graphics seem okay, not as nice though.

However, i have two more questions.

My cpu is still running noticeably hot, i cannot get an accurate reading, but everytime i run mandriva it burns.

My readings do say 52-53C when using mandriva
When i use windows 33c

What can i do about this?

Also, how can i connect to my school's soalris machines via terminal in mandriva?

thank you

sean
