Unhappy Mandrake 8.2 not detecting wireless internet in MAC Mavericks

Mandrake 8.2 not detecting wireless internet in MAC Mavericks. I decided to have a go at Mandrake 8.2 which I have as downloads on CDs. Having installed o k, it does not discover my wireless internet link with the MAC host. I have found the Mandrake internet configuration very confusing, and after several tries at making it cough up, I need further help. I am absolutely inept at using command line facilities, and do not understand things like IP addresses etc. I expected the Network Monitoring facility in Mandrake Control Centre to find the wireless connection on the MAC automatically, but not so. I would appreciate step by step instruction to set this up.

The best steps you can follow would be:
  1. DO NOT EVER LOAD A TWELVE YEAR OLD OS
  2. Download and install a CURRENT release of pretty much ANY distro.
Seriously, Mandrake 8.2 is from 2002...there is NO WAY it's going to be able to know about any current hardware, and even IF it did, configuring it will be a real challenge, providing you can even get the drivers to compile.

Load Linux Mint. For a new user, that would be your best and easiest way to go. It should fire right up.
