Mandrake 10.1 and ATI warning message, please help!

While trying to install the drivers I get this message...
*** Trying to install a precompiled kernel module.
*** WARNING ***
Tailored kernel module for fglrx not present in your system.
You must go to /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod subdir
and execute './make.sh' to build a fully customed kernel module.
Afterwards go to /lib/modules/fglrx and run './make_install.sh'
in order to install the module into your kernel's module repository.

When I try to ./make.sh from the directory listed above, I get this...
[root@john build_mod]# ./make.sh
bash: ./make.sh: Permission denied
Why is that and how do I fix it?

You have no permission to run the script. When you're root it may just mean no 'execute' is set. Try
chmod a+x make.sh
and then run it.

OK, I did that and it seems to have gone well, but part two failed....
[root@john src]# cd /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod
[root@john build_mod]# chmod a+x make.sh
[root@john build_mod]# ./make.sh

You must change your working directory to /lib/modules/fglrx
and then call ./make_install.sh in order to install the built module.
==============================
[root@john build_mod]# cd /lib/modules/fglrx
[root@john fglrx]# ./make_install.sh
bash: ./make_install.sh: Permission denied

Any ideas now?
