Making a link to run an app

Im new in linux and know the basics, So if this is a silly question sorry.

so far I have installed RealPlayer 10, and it runs if I find the folder in was installed in (/opt/realplayer)

How can I make a link in my menu bar, or on my desktop to open this app?

Thanks for the help.

This varies by distro---In Red Hat, You right click in a panel, and click on "add to panel"
I'm sure there is something similar in Mandriva--should be in the manual somewhere

right click the desktop and create link to application. What Desktop are you using to add a menu item. I think kde has a menu editor thing in there somewhere. Or can't you just right click the menu and add new item?

I was able to make an icon on the pane, but is there a way to edit the main menu and display test?
