I am slowly making my way from Windows XP to RH9. I was hoping to be able to replace my current mail client (big ugly clunky MSN explorer) with a sleeker more efficient mail client that i can use both on my current windows platform, and on linux when I get up and running on linux exclusively. I would want the mail client to provide for new mail notificatioins, support MIME, allow me to read and reply to mail. Also, is it possible to run linux programs on windows using cygwin? Anyhelp is appreciated. Thank you
I have seen windows programs that check your mail server every so often to look for new mail. If they find new mail they pop up a notification on your computer, often also displaying the name of the sender and/or subject of the message, etc etc. thanks for the help. I guess I'll be downloading cygwin and checking to see if I can get the programs mentioned above. Thanks very much.
Nearly all mail clients I know can connect to the server every x minutes and check for new mail. I don't need them to give me more info, I just prefer sound, but I guess you can find the features you're looking for.
