Lost Internet after recent ubuntu 12.04 update
After a recent update of ubuntu 12.04 (via update manager) I've lost access to my systems internet resources (Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR8161 Gigabit Ethernet (rev 08)), both wired and wireless. Fortunately the OS recognises a D-link wireless USB stick that I have so I can still access the internet.
One thing I might point out was that after the updates were downloaded and I was rebooting my computer, the system froze on shutdown and I had to do a hard shutdown (i.e. push and hold down the power button). It seems to think it is up-to-date so far as update manager is concerned so I'm not sure if the 'hard shutdown' had anything to do with it.
Any guidance anyone could provide regaining access to my systems ethernet controller would be greatly appreciated.
