1)Virtual Machines earlier prepared with Linux Mint 16 (64 bits)
do not work with Linux Mint 17 (64 (bits),even after downloading latest Virtual Box 4.3.4.3.12-93733-64 bits.While creating new machine with 64 bits OS option for 64 bits is not avalible.I had googled for this,the same problem was reported/discussed in verious forums during 2011.I had installed Linux Mint 17 (64 (bits) on my Toshiba Laptop.I am still running Linux Mint 16 (64 bits) on my desktop PC.
2)For 'Log In Window"configuaration Num Lock On option does not work.

Reason: addtion of a word
From what I read, you are trying to install Linux Mint 17 on a VirtualBox Guest VM, but the option to select Linux Mint 17 64-bit is not available, while Linux Mint 17 32-bit is?
Will you please restate what you are trying to do and what happens when you do it?
===========================
1) Host Linux Mint 16-Olivia- Cinnamon 64 bits- any Guest either with 32 bit or 64 bits can be addeed.
2) Host Linux Mint 17- Qiana – Cinnamon 64 bits – No Guest can be added with 64 bits.
Option is not available for choosing guest with 64 bits while creating new machine in Virtual Box.Hence guest (with 64 bit) can not be added.
-------------------------------------------------
I shall definately try to install Linux Mint 17 on Desktop.

However your test is flawed. Install 17 on the desktop to fully test this issue.
egrep '(vmx|svm)' /proc/cpuinfo but your chipset needs to support vm features also.

Thanks for reply.
I have Toshiba Satelite laptop with intel (64 bit) chip and desktop having AMD (64 bit).
Both Laptop and Desktop were running on Linux Mint 16 till last week of May 2014.Virtual Box was woking fine.
Last week I had downloaded and installed Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon on laptop and I am unable to add guest with 64bit.(Win XP -64 bit or Linux Distro 64 bits).
I am still contuining with Linux Mint 16 on my Desktop.
I will load Linux Mint 17 and try for adding Guests(64 bits) in V Box.
However I am doughtful whther this will succed. Virtual Box Menu (while creating a new machine does not give guest option of 32 bits or 64 bits OS.
I had downloaded Ubuntu 14.04 also and tried on my laptop.The same problem faced with Ubuntu 14.04.
However I shall definately try to install Linux Mint 17 on Desktop and confirm the results in 10 days.
Laptop has to have full VT support. It can't just have cpu or chipset or bios. All have to be supported.
Could easily import a 64 bit client.
The version of VM shouldn't make any difference.

I could install run Guests (64 bits) on the same laptop with Linux Mint 16 (64 bits). Now with same laptop and with Linux Mint 17 (64 bits) Virtual Box do not accept Guests(64 bits)
Did you try the nonfree version of Virtualbox from the repos? I run 32 bit Windows XP and 64 bit Windows 7 without a problem here on 64 bit Mint 17.
========================================
VBox version - Oracle Virtual Box 4.3.4.3.12-93733-64 bits.It does not work on my Toshiba Laptop.However on the same laptop with Mint 16 it wored prfectely ok.I dare not to change my desk top to Mint 17 from existing Mint 16.It may work.
My expection is when Virtual Box(and any other application) worked with Mint 16 on my laptop,it should work after installing Mint 17.
It's possible that permissions somewhere need to be changed.
Possible that it was a bad install or upgrade.
Did you ever attempt my test by using 64 in the client name while making a new client?
==========================================================
Thanks,
Possible that it was a bad install or upgrade.
I think while installing Mint17 (on previous OS Mint 16),I had not formated sda1 (with / flag). I am now reinstalling Mint 17.
My thinking about problem was that there should be something wrong with OS or with package or with Hardware (laptop)
Since the same laptop has given good results for VBox on Mint 16.
Probem is with ether Vbox or Mint 17.
I had observed that while a new versionis launched something which works with earlier version does not work with newer version.
Fpr example in Mint 17 while configuiring "Log in window " Num Lock On option is grayed( not available).Which was possible in Mint 16.
I will try your test by using 64 in the client name while making a new client.
I had installrd Mint 17 on my desk top.After downloading all the updates,I had tried to install with Gdebi Oracle VBox 4.3.4.3.12-93733-64 bits ( earlier download).I got amessage that deprndencies are not satisfied.The same version was installed through Synaptic.It works.
However with my Toshiba laptop even installing system twice ,with full updates Vbox does not allow 64 bit Guests.
Are you sure you installed the 64-bit version of VirtualBox?
