Angry Linus 42.3 upgtade has overwritten all my passwords -- can't get into yast to fix it.

Yesterday I upgraded my linux 42.2 to version 42.3. On the reboot everything worked great. This morning on cold reboot there is no internet access and i can't get into yast or anything requiring a password. How do I get my password to work again?

Did you try rebooting into the previous kernel?

Did you try more reboots, warm or cold, all producing the same obstacle?

Upgraded how, online (Zypper or Yast), or offline (booting installation media)?

How you trying to login? If the GUI login manager (GDM, SDDM, LightDM, etc.), can you reach a vtty (e.g. Ctrl-Alt-F2]), but encounter the same obstacle?

There is an openSUSE page dedicated to lost password recovery.
