Installing Knoppix to hard disk the published way requires gigabytes of hard disk space.
if like me you only have a small disk, (i have 1 gig) and want to keep the OS compressed, you can do the following...
boot knoppix of cd.
use fdisk to make a 700 meg partiton,
then use the dd command to burn the knoppic iso directly onto the 700 meg partiton.
you will need the knoppix boot floppy to boot, but hey. its still only 700megs of disk space, lightning fast cos its on a hard disk.
