Knoppix only boots in failsafe

I sort of posted this question earlier but the question has changed. I have a knoppix 3.4 boot disk. It runs fine on all the computers I have tried it on except (unfortunately) my own. It will give me the normal Knoppix boot up screen, I press enter, then my screen goes black. I have a new computer with a Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV graphics controller, 512mb of ram, running windowsXP (for now), blah blah.

Why can I boot in failsafe and not regular?

I think it has to do with my graphics card, because right before the desktop pops up, for about 2 seconds, the screen goes really screwy. Also, some of the games don't work, they just go screwy on the screen.

Advice?

Have you tried any of the knoppix "cheat codes" (press F2 and F3 when it first reads from the cd and prompts you to boot). There may be some extra video options to select.. maybe you can try a different resolution, or a generic driver, etc.

Alright, I had already tried that, but I gave it another shot just for kicks. I tried many diffrent things, nothing seemed to work. I heard can "pass an option to the kernel" (linux newb, don't know what that means) to make certain hardware work. Would that applicable in my case?

if you stick the knoppix cd in the windows computer *I believe* it will autorun and open your web browser and towards teh bottom is like 3 pages of knoppix cheats. (if not just browse the cd for the html file) not sure if they will help a linux noob but you never know.
