Kaffeine fast forwarding and no sound!

Hi there and thanks to anyone who can help me with this one.

When i play an avi file in Kaffeine it fast forwards the video/movie etc 30 secs consistently until the file is finsished. It does not show any of the file just a black screen and the sound button has been muted.

Any ideas what i can do to fix this?

Thanks.
