Post It takes around 4/5 minutes to connect to RHEL5 server

Hello All,

Let me describe you all, the current setup of my system.

We(from india) connect using SSH to the servers(in kuwait).

Intially it(SSH) used to connect immediately after authenticating username/password.

But, now it takes around 4/5 minutes to show the Linux prompt.

We have checked the ping report and tracert of the servers and it is working fine.

Can you guys help me out to resolve this issue?

Is this related to network issue.( i doubt because the ping and tracert is working fine)..

Thankyou in advance.

Regards,
Avadhut.

If you use -v option with ssh you might get some details about what is happening and where is it taking time.

The tracert should show you where the delay is occurring.

Thumbs up

Hello !!

Thanks for your help !!

The issue is resolved .

I have no idea about the root cause. but as suggested by the Redhat Support team I have made chnages in the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file.

I have added " UseDNS no " entry.

and after restarting the sshd service ;the issue was resolved.

Regards,
Avadhut
