well im trying to install slack10 on my 1gig laptop lol =x and tetex is pretty big and im slimming down on everything im just using this lap for programing no gui at all and i just want to know if its really needed?
As far as I know, if you don't think you need it, you don't. I've actually always installed it because I've always meant to get into it, but never have beyond playing with LyX.
If you don't know what it is, you won't need it. It is a publishing system mostly for scientific texts. Above that, it may be needed for processing some documentation (e.g. R) written in tex. Nothing to do with system, though.
