Smile Internet Connectivity using USB i-Ball 3.5G Connect wireless modem in Ubuntu 11.10

Hi everyone.

I have Ubuntu 11.10 installed on my ASUS 1015PX netbook machine. I also have 3.5G Connect wireless modem manufactured by i-Ball. It has been more than 3 weeks I'm trying to connect it in ubuntu, but fails everytime. It is not even detected as the removable media of a CD-Drive in 11.10. However it works very well in Windows 7.

I tried to use startup disk utility (as it was suggested in user manual for 11.04), tried GNOME PPP application. But nothing worked.

This modem's connectivity can also be made on previous distros of Ubuntu i.e. upto 11.04, but not in 11.10.

Frieds plz help me to work out this problem.
Waitig for experts reply with a solution.
Regards..

Is this a usb modem?
Boot up your computer without the modem connected then connect your modem, wait a few seconds for it to settle and enter the following commands from the command line:
Code:
lsusb
dmesg | tail
post the results of both commands back here and we can try to help you further!
If your modem needs the usbserial module, as mine does, then it has to be loaded explicitly.
