install from source - unable to find the libcurl library - but library is installed
hi - i'm trying to learn how to do installations from source and get some practice on a new ubuntu system. i recognize that what i'm doing could be solved by using synaptic or apt-get, but i want to try it out this way.
i am trying to install streamtuner. when i ./configure, i get the following error message:
configure: error: unable to find the libcurl library
i checked in synaptic and it indicates that i have libcurl3, which i'm assuming is the same (if not, please let me know). the version i have is 7.18.0, and the version required according to streamtuner website is 7.10.8. i'm assuming then that this is an ok version although i know sometimes newer versions of software are not always supported.
i've done some reading and see that it might be a problem in seeing the "path" to the library. however, i am hopelessly unable to figure out how to fix that. do i create a link to the library somewhere in one of the source files in streamtuner?
any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If it is a problem with the version of libcurl that i have, i would still appreciate some advice on paths and library if you have the time! Thanks!
