8.04 is a LTD release and will have support for the desktop release and
five years for the server.

Taken from Wikipedia (taken with a grain of salt...)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_...ting_system%29

Here is some info on rolling your own live disk

From Ubuntu...

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCDCustomization

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Li...ionFromScratch

The fact that you have your own kernel should not hinder you in making a live-cd, but a non-standard kernel may not boot on all systems. It depends on how exclusively you have shaped the kernel for your hardware and operation.

Hello,
I followed the Link https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Li...ionFromScratch to make mu own live distribution. But in that i saw one step (ie)
"You will need a kernel and an initrd that was built with the Casper scripts. Grab the from your chroot. Use the current version. Note that as of 9.10, the initrd is in lz not gz format... This may cause problems with GRUB2.

cp chroot/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.**-**-generic image/casper/vmlinuz

cp chroot/boot/initrd.img-2.6.**-**-generic image/casper/initrd.gz"
But in the above step i dont know what is this "casper script". Because i didnt find any kernel image and initrd image in /boot folder. So please help me. How to create "kernel image and initrd image" in /boot folder.
