When to make custom kernel
im a bit of a n00b to linux and am trying to grasp how to get hardware setup on a number of test machines I have (1 laptop, 2 desktops). I've been browsing around the internet trying to better understand how to get hardware working on computers that have hardware issues.
My basic question is when do I have to build a custom kernel to make hardware supported (or do i even have to)? Is it better than just adding drivers on when needed?
Why would I want to build a custom kernel?
If this seems like im incredibly confused, i appologize
Thanks,
