Is there a specific reason you chose the i386 architecture? I would think that with an i5 processor you would want i686 or x86_64 arch. I would also suggest you choose to download the Live version (on the page you linked: Fedora 12 i686 Live, Fedora 12 x86 64 Live, Fedora 12 i686 Live KDE, or Fedora 12 x86 64 Live KDE)

I would be suspicious of that disk. Did you use shal to test it is the correct disk?
